Gate Installation Kit

$11.99

As seen on the Bob Vila tv show and Bob Vila.com

The beauty of today’s homes is the diversity of designs and materials used for stairways, room openings and doorways. Because of this, the installation of child safety gates can be difficult since a “one size fits all” gate design does not exist.

KidCo has assembled the materials and fasteners necessary to properly install any child safety gate to wood banisters, hollow wall (drywall) or wrought iron. The KidCo Gate Installation Kit can save several trips to the lumber yard and hardware store. When mounting the gates to unusual surfaces such as brick or concrete, KidCo recommends that you consult a hardware professional, baby shop or baby proofing specialist.

One kit is required for each side of the gate that is not being mounted into a solid vertical wood surface and only the most basic tools are needed to assemble any good child safety gate.

Pictures show the following types of installations:

  • Wood Banister Installation using plastic ties
  • Wood Banister Installation using wood screws
  • Hollow Wall (Drywall) Installation
  • Wrought Iron Installation
SKU: K100. Category: .

At the top of my stairs I have an iron railing on one side and a wall without a stud on the other. Will I need three total installation kits, 2 to sandwich the iron railing and a third for the wall since there is no stud?

Can one side of the G2100 gate have mounting hardware 90 degrees rotated from the other? We have a half-wall on one side of the stair, the handrail would interfere with the gate.

Asked by: Raissa
The brackets can have one set facing you and one set facing across. Please call KidCo Customer Care 1-800-553-5529 for installation assistance. thank you,

I need to release the plastic tie straps. I have read the directions and used a screw driver where I believe the lock is, but it will not release the straps.  How do I release the straps?

Asked by: GJB12
Please use a small flat screwdriver to depress the tab. This will allow you to slide out the strap.Sometimes it is easier to go in from the back. If you still need assistance please call KidCo Customer Care 1-800-553-5529. Thank you,

Do you recommend this installation kit be used at the top of the stairs?  The picture looks like it is used with the pressure mount gates.

Asked by: Kara7811
The KidCo K100 Gate Installation Kit can be used at the top or bottom of stairs. The kit contains a variety of hardware to provide the installation that is best for your mounting area. We do recommend that the plastic tie straps be used only at the bottom of stairs for a pressure mount installation. Please feel free to contact our Customer Care department if you need assistance in determining what you need for a safe installation of your baby safety gate. You can reach our Customer Care Specialists at 800.553.5529. Thank you.

Just wondering how the hollow drywall installation works, if there is no stud at the top or bottom of you kit to attach to? How does it help to keep gate secure?

Asked by: Zacccom
The Kidco K100 installation kit comes with butterfly anchors which open up inside the wall behind the drywall. This secures the wood post to the wall and then you attach the gate to the wood post. thank you,

k100 is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wrought Iron Solution Bought four kits so I could install my gate on our wrought iron railings. Brilliant way to sandwich the two boards together giving me a surface to mount the gate hardware. Now it's safe, secure and does not damage the metal railing.
