Angle Mount Safeway ®

The KidCo Angle Mount Safeway is THE gate for situations where mounting points are not straight across from each other. Perfect for top of stairs when you need to mount one side on the wall and one side on a banister, but it can also be mounted in a hallway when the walls don’t line up. As a hardware mount gate, it provides maximum safety at the top of stairs and in high traffic doorways because there is no bottom threshold to potentially trip over as found on pressure mount gates.

I love this gate, we have a wide angled curved staircase with an angled banister on one side. I spent hours researching gate options. I wanted something sturdy that screwed in- none of the tie-on options seemed safe enough. This gate is the easiest to remove if needed, for example having furniture moved upstairs- just remove the plastic cover where it attaches to the banister and the whole gate lists out- super easy to put back as well. I’ve now had this on our downstairs banister 2 years and 2 months. I had an issue with the extension piece needed for the width. I contacted customer service and they responded quickly, I was able to get a replacement piece within a week. I wish I had this same gate upstairs and the other area where we block off the kiddos.

I installed the Angle Mount Safeway at the top of a stairway in my home. First, I’d like to acknowledge your competitors, with whom I spoke, thankfully would not recommend any of their gates when mounting points are not straight across from each other. I’m most appreciative that KidCo makes a gate that is specifically made for such a configuration. It just took me a while to find you!

I did call the help-line once, as I have a banister that is 5 inches wide so the K13 Universal Gates Installation Kit wouldn’t work in my configuration. But whomever I spoke to at KidCo told me exactly I what I would need for materials and how to put what it together, given the wide banisters in my home.

The directions were clear and the videos provided online were helpful. I really liked the template you provided for accurate measuring, although I didn’t see the need to cut the template along the dotted line and separate A and B. I found it straightforward to follow the directions and it became obvious exactly how the gate functioned, as I was putting it together. The only minor suggestion I have is that where possible, it would have been helpful to have the Parts List letters, as enumerated in the User’s Guide (e.g., D1 – Assembly Part Housing, E1 – Assembly Part Cover) inscribed in the part, itself.

After final assembly, the gate worked exactly as advertised. It’s easy to operate and is extremely sturdy. It’s also pleasant to look at. Thank you KidCo! I am delighted with the Angle Mount Safeway!

This gate fit perfectly at the top of our stairs, where the bannister and the opposite wall are not directly aligned. Although we have only had it up for a little while, so far it has been sturdy and easy to use. I recommend having two people for the installation, particularly assembling the gate together itself. The only drawback we found was that it requires being screwed into the baseboard, which we did not want to do (this would not be an issue if you were attaching it to two bannisters across from each other). We purchased a baseboard extension mount that solved this problem and are very happy with the gate.
